Our Commercial Team is proud to share the completion of the window replacement project at Allegheny College’s Reis Hall.
This project called for a thoughtful approach, updating aging windows while preserving the building’s historic character. With its brick façade, detailed stonework, and signature arched openings, it was essential that any new solution complement the original architecture rather than compete with it.
To achieve this, the team partnered with Mosites Construction and Rothschild Doyno Collaborative to deliver a tailored solution featuring Pella Reserve traditional double-hung windows and fixed units. Each window was custom-sized to align with the building’s existing masonry openings, maintaining the structure’s original proportions, spacing, and architectural rhythm across the façade.

Because the building features varied masonry openings, custom-sized window configurations were developed to ensure consistent alignment and symmetry across the façade. The combination of durable exterior cladding, historically inspired finishes and updated glass technology allowed the project team to modernize the building without compromising its architectural identity.
The use of clad wood construction allowed for both durability and authenticity. Exteriors were finished in a custom EnduraClad color, Renis Clay, carefully selected to blend with the historic palette, while the interiors feature a painted wood finish consistent with classic campus design.
Projects like Reis Hall highlight the importance of collaboration between architects, contractors and manufacturers when working on historic campus renovations. Through careful coordination and custom fabrication, the team was able to balance preservation goals with the performance standards expected in today’s institutional buildings.
