Carter Shannon House at Gannon University – Erie, PA
The Pittsburgh Commercial Team recently completed a window replacement project at the historic Carter Shannon House at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Originally built in the 1830s, the mansion is one of Erie's older surviving structures. Located within the West Sixth Street Historic District, the building currently serves as upper-level student housing for Gannon University.

The Carter Shannon House has a rich history, having undergone renovations in the 1880s that introduced its distinctive Queen Anne architectural style. In 2022, local businessman and preservationist Thomas Hagen purchased the property with the goal of restoring the mansion while maintaining its historic integrity. Through a partnership with the Historic Erie Preservation Trust and Gannon University, the restoration project helps preserve an important piece of Erie's history while allowing the building to continue serving as student housing.

The project features Pella Reserve Traditional double-hung windows with unique Victorian IDLs and an Ogee profile. These carefully selected details complement the mansion's historic design while providing modern window performance. The windows help maintain the building's traditional appearance while supporting its continued use for future generations of Gannon University students.

The Pittsburgh Commercial Team is proud to have partnered with Frontier General Contracting as the builder and Kidder Architects as the architect on this historic restoration project!
