Meuser Building - Erie, PA

Pella Pittsburgh Commercial recently completed a standout historic renovation at the Meuser Building in Erie, Pennsylvania, helping preserve the building’s historic character while creating a renewed space for modern use and comfort.

Located at 19 West 4th Street in downtown Erie, the Meuser Building is a historic commercial property with more than 150 years of history. Originally constructed around 1873, the two-story building was built for the Meuser Butcher Shop and featured a storefront on the first floor with an apartment above, reflecting the mixed-use commercial buildings that were common in 19th-century Erie.

For this project, Pella Reserve Traditional single-hung windows in Iron Ore were selected to complement the Meuser Building’s historic character while providing modern performance.

The traditional design of the Reserve single-hung windows also helped maintain a cohesive aesthetic throughout the historic building. The Iron Ore finish complements the Meuser Building’s original character while adding a refined, updated appearance, creating a seamless connection between the preserved architecture and its modern use.

The renovation was designed by Kidder Architects and constructed by Kidder Jefferys Construction, bringing together thoughtful architectural design and quality construction. This collaborative approach allowed the team to preserve the building’s historic character while incorporating modern functionality and performance into its new commercial use.

Located in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Meuser Building now serves as the home of Studio Surrender, bringing new life and purpose to the historic property.
